Hello -- I know that most Feldpost from the front to Germany did not require postage. Did mail from Germany to the front also not require postage?
I collect reply portions of message/reply cards used back to country of origin. I have a replay portion of a 5 Pfg. Ob. Ost message reply card, used from Hamburg back to an Ob. Ost military unit with a "Feldpost" notation. Was the 5 Pfg. postage required to send this card, or was the "Feldpost" notation sufficient to sent it "Portofrei." If the latter, then this card simply served as a formular card.
My German is a little shaky, but this is a summation of the above question.
